ACEC to Host Boston ‘Kermesse’

WATERTOWN, Mass.–On Sat., Sept. 11 and Sun., Sept. 12, the Armenian Cultural and Educational Center (ACEC) will host the inaugural “Boston Kermesse: One Town, One Tent” open-air festival on its grounds (and the adjacent Nichols Avenue) in Watertown.

Armenchik, the John Berberian Ensemble featuring Onnik Dinkjian, and Arev Armenian Folk Ensemble will provide live entertainment.

The kermesse (festival) will showcase the diversity of our entertainment and culinary heritage; will feature cultural exhibits on the history of Armenia and Armenians; and will provide all Armenian organizations with an opportunity to engage the community at large. Entertainment for children of all ages will be offered along with ample culinary offerings reflecting the presence of Armenian life in many corners of the world.

Armenchik, the John Berberian Ensemble featuring Onnik Dinkjian, and our very own Arev Armenian Folk Ensemble, along with other guests, will provide live entertainment during the course of the festival.

A project of this magnitude cannot possibly succeed without the help of a large support network. To that end, all sister organizations of the ACEC, the St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, Armenian Youth Federation, Armenian Relief Society, Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Hamakzayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society, Armenian General Athletic Union and Scouts, and St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary, Saturday and Sunday Schools have joined in to help ensure its success.

The festival is expected to attract well over 3,000 people, andproceeds will help sustain the cultural and educational endeavors of the ACEC. It is the sincere hope of the organizers to turn this event into an annual tradition for the community.
