Master Spy Gevork Vartanian Dies at 87

YEREVAN (A.W.)—Gevork Vartanian, the man largely responsible for foiling Adolf Hitler’s plot to assassinate three Allied leaders—Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt—at the 1943 Tehran Conference, died at the age of 87 in a Moscow hospital on Jan. 10. He will be buried in Armenia.

Gevork Vartanian

Vartanian was the son of an Iranian-Armenian Soviet intelligence agent who operated in Tehran for over two decades under the guise of a successful merchant. The young Vartanian’s spy career started early, when in 1940, at the age of 16, he received his first assignment and the codename Amir. His wife, Gohar, was also a spy—recruited by Vartanian. She worked alongside him for three decades. His work in intelligence continued until the early 90s. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service revealed Vartanian’s identity only in 2000.

In the fall of 1943, at the age of 19, Vartanian prevented the Nazis from carrying out Operation Long Jump in Tehran. Approved by Hitler, and headed by Ernst Kaltenbrunner, the plot aimed to assassinate Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill.

Soviet intelligence agent Nikolai Kuznetsov first uncovered the plan when he posed as an army officer from Nazi-occupied Ukraine, and extracted information from German SS Hans Ulrich von Ortel, known for his drinking.

Vartanian and his group of like-minded youth—all around his age—were known as the “light cavalry.” They were known to travel quick, and light, often on their bicycles.  Aside from Vartanian, the group was comprised of five Armenians, an Assyrian, and a Lezghin. Their task was to conduct surveillance work on Germans and possible Iranian agents. They were responsible for the arrests of around 400 Nazi agents.

On the eve of the Tehran Conference, Vartanian’s team located a group of six German radio operators who had parachuted in near the city of Qum, 40 miles south of Tehran. The “Light Cavalry” followed the Germans to Tehran, where they were in contact with the local German spy network, and maintained contact with Berlin. Vartanian and his team continued to monitor their communications, and it was revealed that the Germans were planning on sending in another group of operatives to carry out the assassination plot. The members of the first group of German operatives were arrested. According to Vartanian, they then allowed one of the German radio operators to contact Berlin with news of the foiled plan. The Germans decided against sending the second group in, and called off the operation.

In 1955, Vartanian graduated from the Institute of Foreign Languages in Yerevan. He was reportedly fluent in eight languages.

In 2003, Yuri Lvovich Kuznets published a book titled Tehran-43 or Operation Long Jump. The book drew from declassified documents and highlighted Vartanian’s part in the events. In 1981, the Soviet-French film “Tehran 43” was released, and featured French actor Alain Delon. However, much of Vartanian’s career remains a mystery, as most of his work remains classified.

Vartanian received the Gold Star medal of the “Hero of the Soviet Union” in 1984 for his intelligence work during World War II and the Cold War. He received three decorations after his 1943 success: the orders of the Great Patriotic War, the Battle Red Banner, and the Red Star. He was awarded the Order for Services to the Fatherland when he turned 80.

Sarkisian sends letter of condolence

A day after Vartanian’s death, President Serge Sarkisian sent a letter addressed to Vartanian’s widow, Gohar, family members, and friends. According to the official presidential website, Sarkisian remembered Vartanian as the “worthy son of the Armenian nation,” who had supported Armenia in times of war and strengthened the country’s foreign intelligence service.

“I cherish memories of my meetings and conversations with Gevork Vartanian,” wrote Sarkisian. “He was a great example of a commendable service to the Motherland, constantly open and well-wishing towards the people. Bright and good memory of Gevork Vartanian will remain in the hearts of those who had met with him even if only once. Rita Sargsyan also offers her condolences. We deeply mourn together with you and share your pain.”

  1. I was stationed in Munich Germany during the occupation from 1948-52. Met a lot of Armenian DP’s from the former Soviet Union, and a few ex-Soviet Agents who spoke Eastern Armenian. I spoke the Western dialect. I wasn’t fluent, but good enough to carry on a conversation with anymore who was from the East. My parents were from the former Ottoman Empire. I was told by a former Soviet agent that a lot of Armenian’s served in their intelligence section.

  2. Prime-minister and likely next president of Russia Vladimir Putin came to bid farewell to Gevork Vartanian.

Vartanian was the third (according to some sources — the second) Soviet/Russian spy awarded the highest title, the Hero of the Soviet Union, after Richard Sorge and Nikolai Kuznetsov.

  3. I ONLY HOPE HIS WORK DID NOT AFFECT ARMENIANS in the other countriesw similar agencies. Also above is mentioned that even during cold war he carried on the spy´s dirty work (nothing to boast about) especially it affected his compatrfiots ,Armenians.
Meanwhile, I do not condone or like the last paragraph ,sentence, wherein his sesrvices toTHE FATHERLAND are mentioned.
We should try to evade,at least as of Now that we have an Independent Armenia/patria, to mentioned the ex soviet union as Fatherland……
We simply have to get rid of that residue….
We did what we did!!! O.K.!!! a noble act indeed…but for whom?
Those who only bestow medals on our breasts, nada mas!!!
How about some real appreciation-Just saw film from Yerevan TV that showed the massacres of BAku/Sumgait…mentioning that the ¨Fatherland¨ intevened with a lapse of 6/7 days ONLY….
E…h Gorbachov!!!!!! and you also promised to hjave Leninakan rebuilt in 2 yrs!!!!
Armenians become Egoists please -a little bit- change being servantgs of others…FEEL INDEPENDENT ..and remember
Freddom was not FREEE for us!!!! we fought for it in 1918!!!!!!

    • Sorry Mr. Palandjian, I have to disagree.

“the spy´s dirty work (nothing to boast about) ” you write.

Treason, betraying your own country is vile and nothing to boast about.
However, being a successful intelligence agent – spy – for your own country is honorable work and definitely something to boast about.

Instead of belittling brave and heroic men like Gevork Vartanian, let’s all pray and hope that Armenia has men like him in Baku right now, keeping an eye on Azeri plans to invade Artsakh. A deep penetration spy can be worth a division if war breaks out.

People who have a problem with Armenians serving in the intelligence services or military of USSR during WW2 should remember this little publicized fact: When the battle of Stalingrad began, Turks, who were allegedly neutral during WW2, had massed 27 divisions at the border of Armenia. In the event Nazis had won at Stalingrad and had pushed on to Baku oilfields, Turks would have invaded USSR (Armenia SSR). Armenia would have been erased from the face of the Earth. It is doubtful there would be any Armenians left in the World. Any that managed to survive would have been quickly assimilated.
Not only Nazi extermination machine was a menace to the world, but to Armenia and Armenians as well.
I don’t have to remind people which country was the military Big Brother to Ottoman Turkey during WW1.
When Nazis invaders were surrounded and crushed at Stalingrad, Turks quickly dispersed, so as not to give the Red Army an excuse to hit them.

About 500,000 Armenians, mostly from the tiny Armenia SSR, fought the Nazi invaders. Half of them did not come home.
Marshal Bagramyan , a native Artsakhtsi, was the first non-Slavic military officer to become a commander of a Front. He was among several Armenians in the Soviet Army, who held the highest proportion of high ranking officers in the Soviet military during the war.
And despite all the damage Bosheviks, Stalin, Soviets caused Armenia, it is an undeniable fact that Armenia survived as a viable state – which in time gave birth to today’s Republic of Armenia.

Defeating the Nazis was a noble cause. Serving as a spy to defeat the Nazis was a noble endeavour.

  4. Although I cannot say I’m exactly thrilled that Vartanyan was able to thwart Otto Skorzeny’s plot to assassinate Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt, I do, nevertheless, recognize Vartanyan’s courage and service to the Soviet Union’s war effort. At the end of the day, the Soviet Union was the home that allowed Armenia to grow into a republic.

    • Please don’t underestimate the First Armenian Republic from 1918-1920 the Polchevicks with the Turks attacked the newly established Republic of Armenia and destroyed our independence, without them we could be better off, we were recognized by forty countries, that time the Soviet Union wasn’t recognized neither the Turkish Republic. The Soviet Union in Dec. 30, 1922 and Turkey in Oct. 29, 1923.

  5. I have to thank Avery for very thoughtful analysis. Thank you. As Armenians living in the Republic of Armenia territory now, I assure we have the highest respect towards Gevorg Vartanian and his deeds. He and his wife, Gohar, had been talking by state TV a couple of times and they were adorable old men with heroic past deeds on which they would speak so little and with big shyness. R.I.P., very respectful our Gevorg Vartanian, our national Hero- whom we also owe so much.

  6. I agree with Avery and Avetis on this. Armenians were able to demonstrate the best of their wit and talent under the Soviet regime, and Vartanian was one such talented person, a spy or not – doesn’t matter.

  7. @ Avery
Come to my TouTube channel and see by your eyes the new breed of armenian Nazis. And please, if you want to do anyyhing positve about it, sign in, comment and fight Armenian Nazis.

  8. Avetis

“Although I cannot say I’m exactly thrilled that Vartanyan was able to thwart Otto Skorzeny’s plot to assassinate Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt,”

I’m not sure what your point is here. You would have preferred to have these guys were killed? Ok maybe Stalin.

    Avery,

Do you have any references regarding the Turkish troop buildup on the Armenian border during WWII? I’m interested in that.

    • Random:

When I was growing up in Armenia, it was common knowledge.
(Another planned invasion later on in the other direction was also common knowledge.)
But I did not know the number of Turk divisions massed near Armenia SSR’s border..
A couple of weeks ago there was a program on a Los Angeles area Armenian TV channel. An old (Soviet) Armenian soldier (I think scout units) who was stationed on the border at the time said “27 divisions”: that’s where I got the 27.
He also said that right after Stalingrad, they crossed into Turkey on reconnaissance, and the Turks were all gone. Disappeared.
I realize it is not a reference. But I’ll see what I can find, because I want to have some hard data on that too.

Maybe somebody else – particularly from RoA – has info.

I also still need to find the name of the American that Mr. Sassounian mentioned.

  9. Avery, very well said. Good analysis.
    Random Armenian
I remember to have read many years ago in the Diasporan right-wing Armenian papers about the building up of Turkish troops along the Armenian border in WWII, about which they too were extremely worried. I can’t remember which paper it was.

  10. Another Armenian made famous for services rendered to other countries and Empires. The world needs to see more Armenians famous for the service rendered to their own people, their own country!

  11. Has anyone else noticed that we Armenians love saving lives… especially the ones that try to destroy us or hurt us?

One Armenian saved the life of Ataturk… who turned around and invaded Armenia to try to wipe it off the Earth.

And here is another Armenian who saved Stalin, who in turn could care less about restoring Armenia after he played jigsaw puzzle with Armenian lands to benefit the Turks, and actually sent many Armenians to their deaths in the Great Purge.

    Pitiful.

  12. Svetlana ,
Armenian Christians spreaded all over the world because of none stop invasion by Islamic nations such as Arabs, Mongols, Tatars, and Turks. Since the birth of Allah’s messenger in 6-th century, Armenians lost their Empire and always been as slave country for Muslim world, even today they still have intention to destroy and take over our little left over land from our past glorious civilization…Armenians had no other choice but get refuge in Christian Europe, Russian Empire, of course with the help of their natural abilities and given opportunities, they become leaders in military, sciences, Engineering, intelligence, art, music, and above all humanity.

I have to agree with you, that 20 years old “new” Armenia needs more intelligent people than ever before, where our nation building and unification will bring more talented Armenians from four corners of the world together. Once again we shall be able to revive this wonderful God given ancient talented people, toward the happiness, freedom, liberty, and Peace.

  13. My previous two posts re above must have pulled the disappearing act!
I don´t mind it is a political party web site and I wrote that very hastily and with some anger. For Avery must not have read my above post carefully-
Svetlana Swanson certainly must have grasped the general idea that ONE SHOULD FIGHT MORE FOR ONE´S OWN FATHERLAND,rather than a common one.
The turco Azeris and Georgians know that much better than us!!!
Two. Morevoer, I refer to spying being a line that is not to boast about!!! IN GENERAL.
Thank God we have had people like DRO also who knew how to play the game…
Few know that he was a real leftist, quassi Hamaynavar and esteemed by Stalin and co.That is why he was allowed to stay in Moscow untill the 1943´s ,thereabouts..
When he saw the Germans entering the Crimean and soviet positions weakening, he made it to Germany….(few except top Tashnag people know it) how come I know it? simple.I was in Budapest in 1947 Summer staying at my uncle´s mansion-like bldg.(where my aunt´s husband told us boys that Dro stayed there for a few days with his 80 and some German Armenian officers and then moved towards the Crimea with the intention of being there in case the soviets lost the war.Bear in mind the millions of tons of bombs over Germany by the Western allies of ex-soviet union and their aid to the military and food aid to them.l
Latter could have been capitualated, when DRO with his German supported Regiment would be in Armenia ,plus thousands of ex-soviet Armenian troops to declare the Free independent Armenia. This is a reality, whether the tashnags admit it or not…
And please don´t take this (immediately) that I am pro nazim or any such or communism or any at all. I am pro Armenia and Armenians.
Yes indeed I would join with the Satan in defense of my Patria!!!
THIS BY THE BY IS EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD THE TURKISH JOURNALIST IN PARIS AFTER OUR 2ND ARMENIAN WORLD CONGRESS.. WHEN I told him that on the other side we have the Soviet Armenian /Russian soviet bases-when he was boasting that there were U.S. bases in Anatolia…
Russians ? ‘ good allies, like Gorbachev sending in troops to Baki and Sumgait 6/7 days AFTER THE PORGROMS?
GORBACHEV promising to rebuild Leninakan in 2 years? MY FOOT!!!!
Russian diplomacy is non less with Lavrovs , Vishinsky , Molotovs etc. Than the Brits or any other..Armenians have underestimated them .In soviet Army the soviet Armenian military called them Sokhs(onions) Is that right??…
That is a very underestimation . THEY ARE THE PEOPLE THAT PRODUCE NOWADAYS LAVROVS, no less a diplomat than say Javier Solana or a Brit…
country of Piotr Veliki , Peter the great. They place their country and nation before any other.. why shouln´t we ? now that we have an Independent Armenia,or do you still think we are a province of the ex-soviet union?
In that case count me out. I am only for Armenia and Armenians, may like above said -if need be-become a Maoist…do you follow what I
    ´m saying??? enough being others´stooges and servants…
I am really surprized that some people here on line either from West or RA still believe that we should be PRO THIS PRO THAT POWER , OR ,over praise any of these. For what?for the medals bestowed on the breasts of our Veterans. How about bestowing the plants that they took over(the Russians) in Armenia ,for a debt of 120$ million. These ought to have been bestowed to the Veterans and the heirs of the martyrs to the Fatherland war….a mere $120million dollars.Whereas even a ten times more would not be enough to appreciate what our boys did in soviet armed forces…The Gerogians and Azeris did not contributre not even a fraction of that many soldiers dear Avery….
´Cause they are smart asses(forgive my french). No more for foreigners if they do not apprecaite our efforts – DID NOT RATHER..no more such self dedication to others….I think I have exhausted myself. We must begin to be smart like the others…enough praising others and theirs…
We are debating Turks here , without understanding that they know when and how to pull back like……………. Avery himself has described above!!!!
When Soviet s began to win by and by(see above his post)We kept on being the SUCKERES!!!again please esxcuse my French.
To end ,what I am advocating is non-alignment with any power or semi power. Like and esteem others and appreciate them as MUCH AS THEY DO UNTO US. You don´t know dear Avery, but there was at least one German Armenian(when you were an infant then in Iran) with German wife and he suddenly disappeared .he was teaching German privately to those who wished to learn and a kin of mine was a student .When the allied troops entered iran Russians from north the U.s. British and french from South.these were either rendered = 0 ,i.e., taken care of or shipped off to Australia i believe.pretty miuch as the soviets had done to Tashnag one or two activist there when they were sent to Siberia and never came back-
The story goes on .Suffice with that. I don´t to see any Armenian be sacrificed for others ANY MORE!!!!!
bdest to those who comprehend above.

  14. Svetlana, Kevork, gaytzag
At the time Vartanian served in the Soveit apparatus the world was divided in two opposing camps and Armenia, by good or bad chance found itself in the Soviet block. By serving the Soviet Union at such a sensitive level he was serving his country, Armenia, too. And by saving the lives of the top world leaders who had convened in Tehran to save mankind from the calamity of Nazism he brought respect and honour to his own nation. This is how people at the time and even now in Armenia look at the matter and correctly.

  15. Kevork,

Generalizations don’t always work in assessing historical events. Besides, Armenians, just like any other people, cannot act as a monolithic force on every issue. What seemed to be a right thing to do for an Armenian who saved Ataturk’s life could be a moronic thing to do for others.

Same with saving the life of Stalin. Of course, he, Lenin, and the Bolsheviks are culpable of transferring Armenian lands to Turks and Azeri Tartars, but in 1943 the defeat of Nazism was of utmost importance. As Avery said, with Stalin eliminated and Turkish army amassed along the border with Armenia, the consequences for Armenians would have been cataclysmic.

As for the Great Purge, incomparably more Russians and other Soviet peoples suffered. Armenians were not the only ones. In contrast to the bloodthirsty Ottoman Turks, it will be recalled, the Soviet leadership never perpetrated a near-total extermination of human beings based on their national, ethnic, racial or religious origin.

  16. Svetlana,

In general, you’re right, but don’t forget that as a result of the genocide by the Turks in Western Armenia and the Sovietization of the Democratic Republic of Armenia, Armenians had no their own country during the WWII. Their host country was the Soviet Union and Vartanian rendered services to that country. Many Armenians living in France, Greece, and the US, accordingly, rendered services to their host countries.

  17. Arsen ,Arsahk,Avery and et al,
Of course I and am sure Svetlana and others like us know that WHAT WE DID WAS NOBLE.aND THAT IS EXACTLY THE WORD i USED UP IN MY FIRST POST…but ,I tried to convey that those times are past…..
WE HAVE ACHIEVED THE FIRTST ARMENIAN REPUBLIC ,THEN THANKS TO SAME(DON´T FORGET HOW MANY DIED IN THOSE THREE FRONTS sARDARABAD, aBARANM AND gHARAKILISE AND ,KARS ETC., WE FOUGHT TOOTH AND NAILS…then the Red soviet Republic was built upon THAT ONE!!! nobody can deny that. If that one HAD NOT EXISTED(SAY LIKE aSSYRIA) ..THENCE we must respect all OF THE 3 REPUBLICS(MEANING THE THIS ONE TOO!!.
bUT THE CORE OF THE ISSUE IS THAT we should, like avery or someone else mentioend have OUR OWN NOW IN THOSE BEAUTIFULL NEIGHBOJURS OF OURS!!!! TO KEEP AN EYE ON WHAT THEY ARE PLANNING OR AT THE VERY LEAST …OUR OWN COUNTER INTELLIGENCE.i HAVE WRITEN HERE SOEMTIME AGO…THAT GREAT tRUKLEY HAD ANOUNCED NEAR TWO YEASRS AGO THAT THEY HAD 120 OFFICERS IN THEIR HIGHEST MILITARY ACADEMY LEARNINBG ARMENIAN AND ARMENIAN MENMTALITY ETC.,
i WROTE BACK FOR WHAT OBJECTIVE? to send them to the moon??????
wake up Armenian.Today, yes today you know what the interlocutor from Yerevan H1 Channel quoted from Istanbulla???
More or les the following(after showing again tens of thousands chanting ¨We are all Armenians¨ (my foot!!! you are…) the Armenian merchants of yerevan´s Firdous Bazar maybe will believe that!!!!
And that is not all…….My God,git a load of the following:-
He quote I believe an armenian language source from istanbulla<.-
¨Let us see if Armenians in Yerevan will chant WE ARFE ALL TURKS!"!!!!!!!!!
lIKE i SAID ABOVE THOSE bizNESS MEN (LATTERDAY SUCKERS) WILL BELIEV E THAT AND WHO KNOWS QUESWTION THEMSELVES IF THEY SHOULD NOT ALSO TAKE TO THE STREETS OF yEREVAN AND SHOUT wE ALL ARE tURKS….
tHESE GREAT tURKEY DIPLOMATS THINK WE ARE THOSE POOR DOWNTRODDEN eRMENI RAYAS and kind defenseless Armenians of YESTERDYEARª!!!!
wHAT TO FORGET THE SLAUGHTER OF 1.5 MILLION MARTYRS, confiscation of their property etc., and go on the street to compeete with the Iastanbuklla (fake, made up Show!!!!. How stupid do they think we are…
Now as to Vartanian Gevork , please…..he was a master spy he did this that and we thank him and all respecct to him .etc., but we do not forget slaughter of innocent Armenians either by the Bolchviks!!!!!
I herewith declare that if any nation has realyy with kindness helped Armenia and Armenians is the United States of Armenia..When at time of despair and famine in Yerevan and Etchmiadzin they sent us thousands of tons of flour!!! and hleped us out with cash dollars to oo to the millions.
It remians to be seen that some diplomats of the great country of U.S.A. ¨despierten¨spanish ..measns to awaken and understand who in mid east is their allies and who is a FAKE Ally.
I believe Mr. trump last night did begin to prompt to that effect and todahy the Fox News Charlie rose interviewing a very High ranking iranian diplomat!!!
i only hope to God that the ice will break and these two noble nations will again cooperate instead of WITH THE BEAST on the half moon….
    hASGCOGHIN bAREV!!!
HELLO TO THOSE WHO WILL COMPREHEND ABOVE…

  18. I do know very well & from a very reliable source & very close to Gevorg Vardanian what this gentleman did to the establishment of Armenia’s ‘cia’… We owe him a great debt & one day all this info will be released.

  19. Alas!!! we do not understand ea other….here.
Some keep adamantly insisting that we ONLY UPHOLD MR.VARTANIAN´S SERVICES .Whereas,I do admit that what then some did to neutralize NAZIM was a n o b l e a c t !!! BUT ,WE SHOULD NOT OVERSEZLOUSLY be martyred, viz. our 250,000, YOUNGS´(soldiers)BLOOD FOR THE FATHERLAND!!!! hairenagan Baderazmin.None here took up the challenge -like I have done- to remind, prompt the heirs of ex HUGE SOVIET RUSSIA -for mainly it is Russians that rule over those v a s t spaces!!!,not the others(some of which, anyhow, have left the union) and that Russia of today ,heir to the previous all , ought to place some difference between the Armenians and the beautifull neighbpours especially who did not contribute that much!!!
Latter, w/their smart diplomats , even now like Sahakashvilli(viz.older one, Shevardnzadze Eduard) have always been smarter than our Mikoyan and Bagramian. Accept facts please. Don´t evade my ¨suggestions¨.
When I was delivering discourses on Horizon Armenian T.V. of L.A.(some 30 /40 times,w/intervals of a week or two, once , I brought up issue of the couple huge PLANTS in Armenia that owed Russia exactly 120 million dollars . I ¨suggested ¨that Russia kindly (besides bestowing the medals to our Veternas) also bestow that upon them and heirs of those martyred in way of making them shareholders at those plants REVIVING THESE PLANTS also THUS…
Only one person had called (in L.A.) and told her, lady that ran the programme at Horizon´ s that portion that ,and I quote¨Tell Mr. Gaytzag Palandijian¨¨not to demand from Russia!!!!
I shot back please tell the person that I merely ´SUGGESTED¨ that it would be appropriate that She do that. And that you madam can tell him that the tapes are there at Horizon T.V. to check on!!!!!
This gentleman must have been over -zealous over Brathi Russia..
Poor chap did not know that for present day Russia or previous, 120 mn dollars is peanuts!!!!! and the blood shed by our Armenian kids was worth millions nay billionsand billions times more than anything.JUST BY TALKING AND PRAISING ARMENIAN VETERANS AND those metal medals..they have not APPRECIATED US PROPERLY ,i.e. the heirs!!!
Therefore I stand my ground . No Armenian should over -work himself herself (shall we say ) for non-Armenians,especially if not proplery appreciated .It is a question of appreciation ,JUST APPRECIATION!!!!
So mucho honour to Top Spy Vartanian indeed. But Gentlemen/madams medals and speeches are NOT ENOUGH!!!! for little ally Armenia .
Same was ,long ago the case of Armenian Legion that fought alongside British ally ´s General Allenby in Palestine(some 5000 Armenian volunteers) all they got was a praise by him , no help when they abandoned us (on the contrary) when Ataturk was attacking us alongside present Armenia borders!!!!!
One Brit Lord even opined ¨our battleships cannot climb the Mts Ararat!!!¨
God´s sake, let us honour ,esteem and like others as much as they do unto us.No more no less. That is all I say.And do not be taken in by just words of praise in cases such as this case of TOP SPY VARTANIAN.RIGHT NOW,yes right now I ¨suggest¨ that Russia ,as a gesture of good brotherly appreciation give!!!!
RIGHT NOW SOME OF THOSE OIL GAS BILLIONS AS APPRECIATION TO REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA…even non returnable,if not as a loan long time loanm at 2%(an example) Many other nations of Europe are doing it.
ALSO ´MAY I SUGGEST THAT ¨ IT IS WELL PAST TIME THAT THEY COMPREHEND(Russia, i.e.) TIME IS NOW TO
    P U T R E A L P R E S S U R E ON AZERBAIJAN TO STOP BULLYING NK(Artsakh) IN EXTENSION ARMENIA!!!!! TELL MR. ALIEV IN S O C H I ON 23RD JAN.2012, THAT and I quote ¨S T O P ALL W A R RHETORIC DIRECTED TO ARMENIA !!!!¨
MY OWN VIEW IS THAT GREAT NATION SHOULD ALSO-IF SO she DESIRES-FOLLOW THE FRENCH AND ALSO USA example…THAT HAVE JUST STARTED putting PRESSURE ON G R E A T TURKEY(urging them to return all churches, monasteries ,hospitals and schools to lawfull owners Armenians.)
TIME IS TO ACT!!!! please!!!! MESSRS. MEDVEDEV AND PUTIN!!!!
BEGIN NOW!!!! PLEASE SO THAT ONCE AND FOR ALL TURKEY BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE AND CONDEMNED AND MADE TO MAKE COMPENSATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can do it!!!!

  20. gaytzag
I don’t intend to judge your standpoints and positions, but permit me just to give you a humble suggestion. If you keep your writings a bit short and concise and correct them before sending for publication, it will be less tiring to go through it all. Then we can have a more fruitful exchange of ideas. But, if you want to use these pages for long, boring lectures, that’s of course your own choice. This is a free press.

  21. Arshag,
Likewise youare free to judge my standpoints ,as you wish-like you say-but I intend to write at length-If it is a boring lecture that of ¨suggesting¨new ideas to my fellow compatriots here(those who can take such) then, they can just leave them aside and keep their give and take with our adversaries, trying to teach them Civil society and /or history. They -most of the-knpow their history,I am sure ,but try to cover up and defend their positions,in order to keep us from furthering our objectives. They are much smarter than some may think.
Anyhow, you have not exchanged your ideas with mine-even your style-in short phrases and sentences. Please do.I´d appreciate that more than evading to do so and instead consider my posts as boring.thanks for the compliment. Avery and Svetlana an d perhpas a few others do undeerstand that my objective here is to drive home our rightfull /just demands .Also I offer in suggestive mode(take it or leave it) NEW perspectives.
I also ask others not you to read my ¨paper´s
on http://www.armeniannews.info…………since those are even longer than these that I post here here.I also debate with Turks here in short format.
