Nearly everyone has told me the same thing: The laws don’t work or there are no laws, and the judicial system is corrupted. They are desperate, hopeless, and dwell in a self-imposed realm of defeatism, each playing the role of the eternal victim.

Christian Garbis (Garo) Adanalian is a writer and educator from Massachusetts. He served as layout designer, staff writer and photographer, and assistant editor at the Armenian Weekly. He has published articles and stories in the Armenian Weekly, Asbarez, Hetq, Roads and Kingdoms, Explore Parts Unknown and other publications. He lived in Armenia for two decades, where he worked and wrote. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Lesley University. For nearly 10 years, he was an English professor at the American University of Armenia. He is currently based in Winchester, Massachusetts and continues to write and teach.

While I like your suggestion to encourage “immigration/veradarts” to places outside Yerevan, I ask: is this “do as I tell you, or do as I do”?
