Thugs and thieves and murderes…The current state of Armenia…
Yes, yes, and NO! Let’s not forget that there are so many good and worthy people in Armenia who need our support and encouragement as they grow the nation.
Agree… the current state of Armenia consists of thugs and thieves and stupid grpox chrpox people but the spirit of Armenia and many citizens of Armenia still represent what true Armenia is and like Boyajian said, they need our support every day of the week of the month of the year.
I just got back from Armenia few weeks ago.. and after 12 years of not able to visit my motherland… i came with high spirits and with great deal of karot because I miss it already… even with its negative ways, its people’s depressing situation because they are not earning a decent living won’t stop me fight for Armenia.. for its existance and my people well being… Armenia has EVERYTHING .. all it needs is bright and smart minds, great leaders and nonstop support from ALL OF US..
.
it is absolutely frustrating and disgusting to know such people are those who actually run Armenia now.. that country is too precious, beautiful and priceless to have such dirt running it..
It is great to see that public is waking up and demanding justice but how promising is it for the govt to actually listen and act upon it??
Boyajian
You are right there are a lot of good people in Armenia. But it would be wrong to forget this murder after short. Vahe was one of these worthy people and his family will suffer from this crime for decades.
The real problem are the Oligarchs ! The whole system in Armenia has to be changed. But I fear our people is not thinking. How could nearly 1/3 of the voters elect an Oligarch some months ago ? Do you know a solution of the problem ?
Sorry, WR, all I know is that oligarchs and thugs and judges and policeman must be held accountable by good people who will stand up for what is right and just. This public outcry against the killing of Dr. Avetyan is very important. It helps others become empowered to do the same. I am all for it. But I am not in favor of belittling an entire nation because of the bad deeds of a few. Let’s hope those responsible will receive the proper punishment. And let’s hope our compatriots in Hayastan will have the courage to demand it.
You people need to do yourselves a big favor and stop panicking and acting like children. If you want to see worst stuff take place take a quick look at your local daily news papers, wherever you live. At the end of the day, the thugs that committed the murder got arrested and they will go to jail and their boss was forced to resign from his political seat. What I see is a normal state of affairs here in sunny Armenia.
Harut,
This isn’t an isolated story. This seems to be the way of life for Armenia..and just because there are other incidence in other parts of the world doesn’t make this normal or acceptable..
Also its not so sunny when 1/3 of the population has already left because there isn’t any opportunity for them. Its seems its only there for the ruling few who treat their position as their personal bank account and acts as if the police are there for their own protection..
Last, why does someone need a body guard anyway? too many enemies?
Well said John.. excellent point…
Harut, don’t forget to take your hat when you are going out, because it seems Armenia is very hot and sunny……
Only people in Armenia can cleanse their government from the oligarchs.
One thing that no one has mentioned is the fact that vast majority of demonstrators are our youth. Just look at the picture posted. These people did not receive Soviet education and think very differently from the old generation. They are called ”Ankakhutyan serund” in Armenia and for a reason-they will change Armenia for good. I see how they are slowly standing up and fighting for their rights.
Comments on this page sadly reminds me why for two thousand years we have been unable to maintain a lasting statehood. As with all nations on earth, including western nations, Armenia will have to travel the hard bumpy path to development. What you people are acting hysterical over are natural growing pains. In the meanwhile, I’ll have more tolerance for Armenia’s current criminal class knowing that they will eventually disappear than towards our “democracy now” imbeciles that will again lead us towards oblivion.
Harout from BH.. we are not stupid… we understand that all nations on earth travel the hard bumpy path to development.. however, we also know that without any interference from the west as you put it, in some ways Armenia may remain stagnant longer than we would all love to..well at least we hope that our involvement will move our country forward to SOME degree..Armenia is held hostage by our own inadequate govt.. and WITHOUT intereference, we all know these thugs will not let go of their power as well as their comfortable lives.. even though I understand what you are going with your comments, I just don’t agree with you on all accounts… maybe tooo critical of us ..???…
