ANCA Hosts State Department Policy Briefing on Syria

WASHINGTON—The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) recently hosted a policy
anca-logo-1briefing for Armenian American community leaders by the State Department’s bureaus of Near Eastern Affairs and Population, Migration & Refugees regarding the unfolding security and humanitarian crisis facing the Armenian population of Syria.

The off-the-record July 11th briefing, held in the Aramian Conference room, covered a broad range of longstanding Armenian American concerns, including those related to humanitarian aid, resettlement assistance, Turkey’s role in the attack on Kessab, and, most recently, ongoing rocket assaults on Armenian neighborhoods in Aleppo.

  1. Every cent given to the rebels contributes to the attacks on the community in Syria. The US Department of State should know that this will not be forgotten or more importantly, forgiven. In the future, bills should be introduced in Congress confiscating the pensions of those involved in creating the Syria policy as part of compensation paid to its victims.
