Youth from Boston, Paris Converge at Weekly for Journalism Internship

WATERTOWN, Mass.—For the third consecutive year, the Armenian Students’ Association of America, Inc. (ASA) sponsored a Journalism Internship Program at the Armenian Weekly offices in Watertown.

Aren Torikian, the third intern accepted into the ASA internship program, is interning at the Weekly for a six-week period, writing articles, conducting interviews, and assisting the editors in their tasks.

Originally from Beirut, Aren Torikian has lived in Lexington, Massachusetts for most of his life. A student at Tufts University, Aren intends to study history and economics. He is a member of the Greater Boston chapter of the Armenian Youth Federation, and enjoys watching re-runs, namely of Scrubs and The Office. (Read his articles here.)

In previous years, Varak Ketsemanian and Lilly Torosyan have been ASA journalism interns at the Weekly.

Interns from both sides of Atlantic

Two other interns are currently interning at the Armenian Weekly: Fiona Guitard and Aram Theriault.

Fiona Guitard is a French journalist who is currently spending a six-week period in Boston interning for the Weekly. She earned a B.A. degree in French Literature and Communication, and an M.A. in Social Science and Humanities from La Sorbonne University. Involved in human rights, her writings also focus on politics, arts, and social and gender issues. She lives in Paris. (Read her articles here.)

Aram Harumi is an incoming sophomore at Brookline High School, in Massachusetts. In addition to interning at the Weekly, he is an avid soccer player for school and club teams and loves to read.
