STEPANAKERT, NKR—On Sept. 14, the Karabagh Defense Ministry announced it had downed an unmanned Azeri drone flying in Armenian airspace on a reconnaissance mission.

According to the ministry, the Azerbaijani side has recently increased its air presence on the border, likely conducting military surveys of the area. The frequency of the flights increased over the past couple of days and followed the length of the contact line, and in some instances violated Armenia’s airspace.

In the past 10 days, the defense army deployed its anti-aircraft and radar capabilities to counter the Azeri move. As a result of its preparedness, the Karabagh Army downed an unmanned drone on Sept. 12 at 7:30 a.m. near the village of Vazkenashen, in Karabagh’s Martuni district.

According to the Karabagh Army, they are currently in possession of the drone parts and a commission has been formed to carry out an investigation.

  1. Congratulations NKR! The Armenian Diaspora must support the RA and NKR as if they were our parents. The Armenian forces must be always vigilant for these vultures to come over into our airpsace. Shame on the companies and the countries in which they are located to allow the production of these weapons of mass murder. Listen to these so called “democratic” countries talk about “human rights.” What a joke! The only savior for our Nation is our Church and our Military. Enough said!

  2. I wonder this little Sheikhdom called azerBYjan likes to bring a huge mountainous area like Artsakh under control with their toy kites!!Stupid alioff knows how to blow oil money into Israelis pocket!!those azerByjanis Turks don’t want to see, how mighty NATO forces with million advanced drones can not bring Afghanistan under control..If oil Sheikhdom boss Sultan alioff fired any missile over Artsakh population, definitely will be the end of his rule over tatar-turk Sheikhdom, and lose more land to Artsakh Defense Forces!!

  3. Job well done by Armenian Defense forces. We should be more vigilant and alert, as this might be the prelude to resumption of the violence initiated by the Azeri-Turkish side.
When Levon Ter-Petrossian signed a ceasefire in 1994 instead of pushing to Gandzak and bringing Heydar Aliev to his knees in order to recognize the independence of Karabagh, now we have to face such circumstances.
Our fridom fighters has said it 120 years ago in eloquent words.

  4. Congrats to NKR.  It’s commendable of ANCA to address this calamity by the Canadian and the US companies right away to the Secty of State Mrs. Clinton.  The Canadian and the U.S. affiliate companies NOVaTel must be accountable for the attempt of the destruction weapon against Nagorno-Karapakh Artsakh Republic.  What kind of a peace talk and a democratic action is that?
